OKEHAMPTON will be the latest stop in the Devon In Touch roadshow?s tour of the county, when the purpose-built vehicle comes to the town today (Thursday). The In Touch roadshow is Devon County Council?s initiative to promote interest in information technology by giving visitors to the bus instant access to a world of information. Equipped with the latest technology, the vehicle gives people in rural communities the chance to use the internet and experience the benefits of going on-line. They can also find out more about county council services and how to access them. If you want to hop aboard, the Devon In Touch Roadshow will be in the car park of Mole Avon stores in Exeter Road, Okehampton, today (Thursday) from 11am to 4pm. The roadshow began its tour last September and has so far visited more than 50 communities. Staff on board have been delighted by the response ? particularly that of older people keen to discover the fun of surfing the web and sending emails to friends and relatives at home and abroad. ?We have had some wonderful appreciative comments,? said manager Lisa Wilson. ?Some people have become hooked immediately and have stayed with us several hours, gaining more knowledge and sharing their experiences with other visitors,? she added. The roadshow is a Devon County Council service, in association with BBC Radio Devon and Devon Fire and Rescue. l The vehicle is also visiting the village square at Bratton Clovelly on Wednesday December 8 from 11am to 4pm.
