LINE markings in Market Road are due to be altered, following a decision to use the auction rooms as temporary depot space for Tavistock Town Council.
The council's properties committee last week sanctioned the alteration of the lines, to ensure that vehicular access was maintained at all times to the auction rooms.
Market Road is owned by the town council — the areas affected by the change include the existing unloading bay in front of the auction rooms and alterations to two parking bays directly opposite.
Works superintendent Wayne Southall said the changes could possibly mean the loss of up to two parking spaces.
Cllr Ted Sherrell asked that the council consider painting parking bays in the road at a future date.
'It would perhaps create a couple of spaces because it means people have to park properly,' he said.
The auction rooms, owned by the council, became available for use this autumn.
The lease on the council's current depot in Pixon Lane is due to run out shortly, and it was decided to use the Market Road building as a temporary measure, rather than taking out a new lease.
It is hoped work on a new depot, on land owned by the council in Pixon Lane, will start in the spring.
