THREE people were taken to hospital following a serious one-vehicle road traffic accident on the A386 at Hatherleigh.

The accident took place at Langabeare Barton at around 8.30pm on Thursday, April 22.

A silver Vauxhall Corsa was travelling in the direction of Hatherleigh when it left the road and collided with a tree.

The female driver, a local woman aged 40, was taken to hospital at Wonford with leg and facial injuries.

The rear seat passenger, a man aged in his 40s and not a local, was airlifted to Wonford by police helicopter with life-threatening head injuries.

A 42-year-old man, who was a front seat passenger, was also taken to hospital with chest and abdominal injuries.

All of the casualties are said to be in a stable condition.
