A GOOD team performance secured a fine win over local rivals Tavistock for the second time this season.

Tavistock started well with their big forwards working their way into the Okehampton 22, where the ball was passed to their fly-half who cleverly chipped through and chased to get the touchdown.

With the two points added this spurred Okehampton to up the pace and take on Tavistock up front. Forwards Simpson, McGratton, Bennie, Aylen, Bullingham, Friend, Chisholm and Long, their tighter play and better technique took play into the Tavistock 22 and from a 5-metre scrum No 8, Rob Long, picked up and drove over to score, Browne adding the conversion.

Okehampton moved the ball, varying the plays and trying cross kicks for Alec Vincent, Josh Noon and Darcy Heard to catch and gain ground, linking with Rory Honeychurch and David Binns.

Tavistock gave away a penalty and Chisholm quickly took it to dart in to score, Browne again converting for a 14-7 half-time score.

In the second half Okehampton's tackling was superb, tying up the big Tavistock runners before they got going.

Long took the ball off the back of a maul just inside his own half and ran straight up the wing, handing off four Tavistock tacklers to score.

Okehampton continued to pressure and Tavistock's indiscipline conceded penalties, with Browne converting two.

Tavistock finished by scoring a consolation try in the corner close to the end of the game.

Man of the match captain Jake Chisholm.
