Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3
Lanivet 1
Callington 3
WITH Callington rebuilding from last season's promotion winning side, scoring has been a problem this season, so it came as a relief to start finding the net again, albeit from an unexpected source.
Lee Rider was on hand to drive a Ben Smith cross into the net. With a reorganised defence, captain Vanstone and Tom Reid gave good protection to keeper Corfield, allowing Truscott and Rider to push on from midfield.
It was a Vanstone through-ball that set up a chance for Truscott to hit a low drive just inside a post, and allow Callington to play with more freedom with a two-goal lead.
Callington were not dominating with the same authority as their first two games, but there was no way back for Lanivet and it came as no surprise when when the visitors went further ahead from a Truscott free kick — Rider was on hand to knock the ball into the net when the keeper failed to hold on.
Lanivet pulled a goal back near the end but it was a welcome first victory of the season for Callington.
