A GROUP of horseriders from Beaworthy is organising a 'three moors ride' next month, to raise money for research in to Multiple Sclerosis. Rach Martyn , Sharon Martyn, Leigh Jackson and Vicky Clink will set out from Exmoor on Wednesday June 13 to ride down through Somerset into Devon to reach Okehampton Camp on Sunday June 17, before continuing to Bodmin where they will finish at Jamaica Inn the following Tuesday. Rach Martyn said: 'There will be four horses doing the whole ride and a number of other riders joining us along the way. We'll be riding between fifteen and twenty miles a day — and about 150 miles in total.' The riders will follow a route through North Tawton (12 to 1pm on the Saturday), Sampford Courtenay (around 2pm the same day) and Belstone (around 10 am on the Sunday). They will also be taking in High Wilhays on their way to Okehampton Camp, and the high points on Exmoor and Bodmin. Many of the villages through which the women are passing are laying on BBQs or parties for them. 'The support, kindness and generosity from everyone has been overwhelming and shows without doubt the westcountry is the best place in the world to be,' Rach said. She added: 'We're trying to fit in as many villages as we can and meet as many people as we can. It'll be a nice opportunity for people to meet us and the horses.' The ride is in aid of the West Devon and North Cornwall branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. To sponsor the women, please call Rach on 07772 636036, email [email protected]">[email protected], or drop into the Lloyds TSB branch in Holsworthy where the 3 Moors Ride has set up an account for donations.
