A fantastic ride across Dartmoor for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust was started by 1989 Grand National Winner Jim Frost at the East Dart Hotel, Postbridge.

Ride organiser Allen Lewis, the commercial manager for Tavistock AFC, said: 'The wet weather held off for us to ride across some of the wilder, boggy moor and Dartmoor was kind to us.'

The three farmers were down to two from the start as Kenny Watson was ill,  which forced him to pull out and all involved wished him well.

'So the two farmers , a nurse and me really enjoyed promoting and supporting this wonderful cause.

'With Champions 60:60 just round the corner for Bob Champions big fundraiser , it was an honour to promote this event.

'This we did in style, draped with ribbons of the Embiricos colours, blue and white, that carried Bob Champion to that incredible win, cancer and Aintree in 1981.'

Allen said that as they rode over Dartmoor they were wished well by walkers and farmers and on their arrival in Tavistock the four horses knew they had done a good bit of work.

'At Tavistock AFC we were greeted by Geoffrey Cox MP and the children and parents of Tavistock Youth Cafe Plus for Special needs Children, which was a lovely sight,' he added.

'At the moment the ride has raised more than £1,700 but we hope this will rise.'

Allen thanked all his sponsors and supporters who backed him in organising this ride for awareness and important funds.
