TAVISTOCK rugby equipment manufacturer ? Rhino Rugby Ltd ? have been chosen to supply the new sponsors of the Anglo-Welsh Cup ? EDF Energy ? with their pitchside soft branding for all the matches in the competition this season. The new-format competition involves all 12 Guinness Premiership clubs in England, together with the four Premier regional teams in Wales, and started with a match between the Ospreys and Gloucester. The winners of each of the four groups of four teams will go through to double-header semi-finals at the Millennium Stadium in April 2007, with the winners contesting the final at Twickenham a month later. Time was against the firm as they were only given the go-ahead with two weeks to get everything made for the first games. However, extra temporary staff were brought in, overtime was worked, and local screenprinters ?Whitmores ? devoted two weekends to get all the branding ready in time. Derek De Glanville, managing director of Rhino, said: ?Branding work for big sponsors is one of our specialities, and they invariably make their decisions at the last minute, so we are used to deadlines like these.? So rugby fans should look out for the bright orange EDF flames at the various Premiership grounds around the country over the next few weeks and enjoy the rugby.
