Tavistock A 2
Truro B 1
THIS was a hockey match between teams with very different styles. Tavistock concentrated on building attacks through the midfield, while Truro focused on quick breaks based on long hits from the back.
Tavistock had more possession, but their marking was loose, and with just a minute to go before the half time whistle, Truro scrambled the ball over the line to take a 1-0 lead.
Tavistock came out fighting in the second half.
Lovett cut out many Truro breaks and fed the ball into the midfield. There Unwin, Honey and Tosdevin built solid attacks, providing opportunities to the forwards. Holland ran the defenders ragged but could not get a finishing touch.
Four minutes into the second half North created an opportunity and fellow striker Josh Reynolds capitalised, scoring the equalizer from only inches off the line.
Tavistock failed to take advantage of their penalty corner chances, simply not moving the ball fast enough. Truro clawed their way back into the game and for 15 minutes effectively took control.
Solid keeping by Kelly kept Tavistock's in the game. The backs were fully organised by Bellard now. Bradley had the measure of his man and Mills played some inspired hockey, sweeping Kelly's pads superbly.
After defending two penalty corners Tavistock seemed to get their second wind and dominated the last 10 minutes.
With five minutes to go Reynolds was signalled to come off the pitch. He responded by slotting home the team's second goal in fine style!
Truro mounted a spirited last-minute effort, but the match finished with a well-earned 2-1 win to Tavistock.
