OKEHAMPTON'S past mayor Cllr the Rev Mike Davies, who leads Okehampton's Inspiration Church, recently visited the Ukraine to offer some encouragement to a church just outside Kiev. Mike visited Pastors Alexandr and Yulia Koltukov who lead God's Glory Church. Mike said: 'This is the third time I have visited the Ukraine and with the current political climate there were obvious tensions. ' However, it was good to see the church had grown quite considerably since my last visit.' Although based in Kiev, Mike was also taken to various local villages, and visited and was asked to pray for people in the Kiev Hospital. He said: 'As I speak no Ukrainian or Russian I was constantly in need of a translator but pleased to say that most of the time translators could be found which made my life easier.' Mike will be returning to the Ukraine in October but this time will be speaking at a conference in the far west of the country.
