Jewson South Western

St Blazey 3

Tavistock 2

THIS was the second meeting of three between the two clubs in eight days. The Lambs were eager to have revenge for the cup defeat the previous Monday.

They were without the services of the unavailable Dave Symons, Jeff Babb, Peter Tiffney and Andy Parnowski.

Into the line-up came Ben Pinkham in central defence, Craig Brook led the attack. Manager Steve Hart brought in Mark Piper from the P&D side and Danny Brockington from the youth team to sit on the subs' bench.

St Blazey attacked from the off with former Lambs wing back Shaun Sullivan shooting over and Glyn Hooper glancing a header wide of Andy Meeds' upright.

The Saints' supremacy dissolved as the Lambs started to put their game together and Mark Wall's first touch let him down as Chris Gott put him through on goal in the 15th minute.

The game came to an abrupt halt after 20 minutes when Tavistock's wing back James Cole suffered a leg injury which resulted in him being taken to hospital by air ambulance. The game was held up for almost an hour but there was a collection for the ambulance that resulted in £100 donated.

When the game restarted Cole was replaced by Marcus Crocker .

Piper then replaced Crocker and the second half was a completely different affair. The Saints took the lead in the 49th minute.

Darren Babb challenged Hooper in the area and the ball fell kindly for Andy Waddell to shoot home from eight yards.

The Lambs stormed back with two goals in three minutes.

Wall made amends for his earlier mistake to play Gott in and his shot hit defender Dave Jones to wrong-foot keeper Dave Philp. The same two combined for Gott to chip the keeper from the edge of the area.

St Blazey were back on level terms with 12 minutes to go when Hooper's short corner to Shane Powell was crossed. It hit Pinkham and deflected past John Gosling on the line. With just five minutes remaining Gary Dyer broke clear in the area only to be fouled for a penalty. Waddell made no mistake from the spot.

A spirited display from an under-strength Lambs who felt unlucky not to have come away with a share of the points.
