RETHINK and Mind, two of the UKs most prominent mental health charities recently launched a campaign called Time to Change.
The campaign aims to challenge the general public's perception of and attitude to those who suffer from mental health problems.
It also highlights the fact that one in four people will suffer from some kind of mental health problem during their life.
A new facility is now available for people interested or involved in promoting, maintaining, or supporting their own or another's mental well-being.
Based on an idea already running in Totnes, SAMS (Signposting and Mutual Support) is a weekly session where anyone, of whatever age, can drop by, meet like-minded people, and socialise within a friendly and easy going atmosphere.
Facilities include pool, table football, computers, video games, and refreshments, with advice and literature on what local organisations can offer.
Tavistock SAMS is on Thursdays from 2pm to 4.30pm at the Tavistock Youth Café on Pixon Lane, and is staffed by a Rethink worker and volunteer.
