AN outline application to build non-food retail units on the Radmore's Garage site in Plymouth Road was deferred by West Devon planners this week.

Councillors at Tuesday's planning meeting heard that Kingcross Ltd have applied to build two units with 80 parking places on the site — a roundabout would also be constructed at the junction of Brook Lane and Plymouth Road.

Planning officer Jane Green told members the type of goods involved could include garden machinery, bathroom or kitchen equipment.

Tavistock Town Council has objected to the application on grounds it could affect the vitality of the town centre.

Members voted for a site meeting in order to consider access and roundabout proposals further.
