A NEW record has been set at Callington College, following publication of this year's A-level results.
More than 86% of students achieved two or more A-levels.
The number of students gaining A* and A grades has risen dramatically this year and while some students' results are still to be confirmed, more than 50% of sixth form students gained A* to B grades.
Approximately 80% of students achieved the higher grades of A* to C. The vast majority of university applicants have achieved their first choice place.
College principal Gary Lobbett said: 'I am delighted that our sixth form students have achieved such high levels of success.
'Our students have done tremendously well; it is great to see their delight in these exceptional results.'
Top year 13 performer was Aislyn Taylor, who achieved three A* grades in chemistry, biology and mathematics and an A grade in further mathematics. Aislyn will be reading natural sciences at Cambridge University.
The school said there had been many exceptional performances.
Jess Cox achieved two A* grades in photography and art, A grade in media studies and B grade in history. Aggie Eynon achieved A* grade in textiles and two A grades in geography and media studies. Ellen Chaplin gained three A grades in English language, English literature and history.
Sophie Lane, Kate Murphy and Tom Warner also all achieved fantastic grades.
Year 12 students achieved outstanding results.
Congratulations went to Qinglin Li, who gained A* grades in both A level mathematics and further mathematics and A grade in physics and Chinese at AS-level. Qinglin achieved these results in one year of study. Dan Crowle gained an A grade at A-level and three A grades at AS level.
Congratulations also went to Rachel Buxton, Jennifer Cruise and Alasdair Gascoyne who achieved five A grades at AS-level and Meg Chaplin, who gained two B grades at A-level and two A grades at AS-level.
Mr Lobbett added: 'Students have committed themselves to their academic studies and have also contributed a great deal to the life of the college and local community.
'I am very proud of our students and of the excellent teaching and support teams at the college.'
