VILLAGERS in Bere Alston and Bere Ferrers have come out in favour of their parish council contributing £20,000 towards the parish hall regeneration project, which will add an extra £3.60 a year to a Band D property's council tax.
A letter and voting paper was sent to every household in the parish by Bere Ferrers Parish Council and the returned papers were counted last Tuesday, week. The votes in favour were 307 and against 251.
The project can now continue to try to obtain grants to fund the major scheme, which would see an improved and extended hall become a greater facility for residents.
