RESIDENTS on the Bere Peninsula have excelled themselves in recent weeks, raising hundreds of pounds for charities in the area.

The Bere Ferrers Swimathon, which was held in aid of the recreation field, raised £288, while Bere Alston medical practice organised a coffee morning and car boot sale in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief, which raised a splendid £200. On the same day, Bere Ferrers duck race was able to donate its proceeds of £125.73 to the recreation field fund. The autumn jumble sale organised by Ann Street in aid of St Andrew's Church made £460.28, which will be put towards improvements at the church hall.

A capacity audience enjoyed a performance at Holy Trinity Church by Pelynt Male Voice Choir recently, which made a profit of £500 for church funds. On the same day, a jumble sale in aid of the church made £160.
