YOUR article on January 14 on the approval of the plan for 350 new houses, despite 46 objections, included the quote from Christine Marsh that 'The site is identified for housing in the local plan and so there is nothing anyone can do to stop it'
I think there is something and it is called planning permission. Identification of a potential site for a purpose should not mean automatic permission, especially if there is significant local objection.
I hope that many would join me in saying that we support building new houses, but we want them to be good quality, at a mix of prices, with supporting services, including transport, off-street parking, and above all, that local people support.
Large housing developments imposed on communities against local opposition are going to lay the foundations of resentment against both the residents and the planning system.
