TAVISTOCK-based Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team had a busy week last week, with a spate of callouts.
The team was called out on Saturday, March 9 at 9.30pm to search for a group of four army cadets missing after a day's training for this year's Ten Tors event.
The teenagers were initially reported to be lost in thick mist in the Bellever Forest area. They were found in the early hours of Sunday morning at Fernworthy Forest, near Teignhead Farm, cold, wet and tired but otherwise unharmed.
The rescue team was called out again later on Sunday, March 10, to go to the assistance of a walker with a knee injury near Nun's Cross.
The 17-year-old female had been immobile for some time, and cold temperatures and a high wind chill had caused hypothermia to develop in the injured girl and her companions.
The two casualties were treated, moved by stretcher and handed over to the ambulance service.
On Wednesday, March 13, the team was called to search for a missing 50-year-old woman in a rural location between Launceston and Camelford.
A large scale search developed involving the police, Cornwall Search and Rescue Team, Dartmoor Search and Rescue Teams from Tavistock, Okehampton, Plymouth and Ashburton, Mountain Rescue Search Dogs and local farmers.
The woman was found safe and well on Thursday evening.
