THERE was an exciting match between newcomers, the Red Devils, and the more experienced squad of Rentafford.

The game began with close first and second quarters, but Rentaford established a marginal lead by half-time. The match moved up a level and saw the Red Devils fight back to bring the game to 10-10 midway through the third quarter.

The pace of the game was relentless, with Rentafford moving a goal ahead in the third quarter. Rentaford finally pulled ahead during the last quarter, with excellent shooting.

The goal score finished fairly low thanks to solid defending for both teams? defences, in particular GD Farrah Williams (Rentafford) and GD Jo McDonald (Red Devils).

Final score: Red Devils 11, Rentaford 16.

The second match saw the Blue Angels pitched against Delaware Dodgers. Both teams started well in the first quarter, but the second quarter highlighted the difference in experience levels, with Delaware Dodgers pulling ahead.

By half-time they had established a comprehensive lead through precision shooting from GS Sally Curtis.

Blue Angels battled hard and despite excellent defensive work by Zoe Stock and Amanda Clark were unable to close the gap.

Final score: Delaware Dodgers 48, Blue Angels 11.
