Tavistock Town Council works department is currently undertaking much needed repairs to the bandstand in the Meadows.

The bandstand, which dates back to 1923, was built as part of a rejuvenation and renovation project of the open parkand by the town council almost a century ago.

This included restoration of the then derelict canal as well as creating a fountain and children’s paddling pool.

As a result of frequent vandalism over several years in the Meadows, the bandstand has fallen into a state of disrepair. It now requires extensive restoration, including fully replacing the timber ceiling, reslating the roof, masonry repairs and general redecoration to bring the historic landmark back to its former glory.

To encourage public use of the asset, lighting is being installed and the access path is being relaid

The council will provide updates on the bandstand’s renovation in the coming weeks.
