PEOPLE in Tavistock are invited to take a break from shopping and enjoy a cup of tea and a mince-pie in aid of the Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer.
The appeal will be hosting the refreshments at the Wharf, while Monica Saunders plays carols on the piano.
Chestnut Appeal manager Lesley Ann Simpson said: 'We are hoping the people of Tavistock will come along and support us and have fun at the same time.
'We've only been able to hold this event because of the generosity of local business, and my deepest thanks go out to Devonshire Tea, Somerfield and Tavistock Wharf, who have pulled out all the stops in helping us raise funds for local prostate cancer care. We would also like to thank local musician Monica Saunders for volunteering her time to play the piano.'
The Chestnut Appeal for prostate cancer will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2010, in which time it has helped to change the way prostate cancer is treated across Devon and Cornwall.
The event costs £3 and take place on Wednesday December 16 from 10am to noon.
