AN APPLICATION to build eight local needs houses at Walkhampton looks likely to be turned down this week by Dartmoor planners. Walkhampton Trust proposes to build the houses on a rectangular area of land next to Wheelwrights Court and opposite Knowle Terrace, but officers recommend Dartmoor National Park planning committee refuse the application at their meeting on Friday. Twenty-two letters of objection have been received in respect of the plans and officers say the proposal would be ?unacceptably detrimental? to the character of the area and would only exacerbate the existing poor traffic situation within the village.
