I FOUND the item (January 24) re the Ugandan Asians at Plaster Down Camp very interesting.

At that time I was one of the drivers at HMP Dartmoor and it was our job to go to the camp, pick up their dirty laundry in laundry baskets, take it back to the prison and return the clean items.

It reminded me of an earlier time when as a teenager seeing displaced persons living in the ex WAAF camp on Pound Down just down the road from the main entrance of RAF Harrowbeer. I believe they were given food by local people. They were in a terrible state, having nothing bar what they stood up in.

Nothing has changed we only have to see the news on the television or read the newspapers and see things like that are still going on.
