Some people think Britain should come out altogether and go back to making our own laws and our own trade agreements with any country in the world.

There was a debate on the EU in the House of Commons on October 24 but MPs were told how to vote. The Whip's Office often refers to the 'payroll vote' (those MPs who can always be relied on to vote in line with the party whip so as to protect their careers and their income).

The campaign for a referendum continues to pile pressure on the Government with a new petition which seeks to create a bill in parliament to get a referendum.
