BRIDESTOWE Cricket Club came within a whisker of beating the high-score record held by St Stephen?s on Saturday, with a devastating 382-3 ? in a match against . . . St Stephens!
The team?s score was just 24 short of their opponents? record of 406-3, and included an individual batting record for Phil Hatton who notched up an unprecedented 250 not out.
Phil?s incredible tally smashed the previous Tamar League record of 189, held by Mark Jenkins.
Bridestowe?s total was easily enough to overcome St Stephen?s on Saturday, and the victory puts them six points clear at the top of the league.
Phil said the club were always on the lookout for new members, of any age, and anyone interested could leave their name and telephone number at the White Hart in the village.
Alternatively, people were welcome to attend a practice session at the ground, every Friday at 7.30pm.
The club will be holding a car boot sale this Saturday (July 5), including refreshments and a pets? corner. Cars should arrive at 10am, and buyers from 11am.
