A RECORD tumbled when Tavistock?s Adam John (pictured right) represented Plymouth College at the English School?s National Swimming Championships in the Manchester Aquatics Centre. Adam broke the 50m backstroke British Age Group Record in a time of 29:70, having previously broken the 200m backstroke British Age Group record in July of this year. He also won the 100m backstroke by almost four seconds, smashing the previous championship best time. This event was the English Schools Swimming Association?s 56th Inter-Divisional Gala which was held on October 21 and 22. Swimmers from all over the country converged on Manchester to swim for their region. The South West region won four out of six age group trophies and the overall trophy.
