A DYNAMIC young guitarist will give the first recital of 2005 for Kelly College Concert Society on Wednesday January 12. Morgan Szymanski was born in Mexico City and began to study the guitar there. He continued his education in Edinburgh and then at the Royal College of Music where he won every available guitar prize. He has also studied in Amsterdam with Carlos Bonell. In 2002 Morgan won first prize at the National Guitar Competition in Mexico. In 2004 he was chosen for representation by the Young Concert Artists? Trust. He has given recitals in the Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall and Fairfield Hall and appeared at guitar festivals in Mexico, New Orleans and Amsterdam. Morgan?s programme will include ?Asturias? by Albeniz, ?Capricho Arabe? by Tarrega and ?Sonata III by Ponce. He will also play Lannarelli?s ?Tribute to Keith Jarrett? and works by Brouwer and Ritter. The opening item will be a work written especially for him by Alec Roth. The concert begins at 7.45pm in the Melvin Hall, Kelly College, Tavistock, and is sponsored by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust. Tickets at the door are £8 (£6 concessions). Under 18 year olds, accompanied by a ticket holder, are admitted free.
