WITH reference to the photograph of our recent carnival cheques presentation that you kindly published on the front page of your paper on September 30, I wish to confirm the distribution of the profit, as one main beneficiary was unfortunately omitted.

£2,000 was indeed presented to Tavistock Hospital for the purchase of some much needed equipment for their outpatients? department, £700 to St, Luke?s Hospice and £1,000 that has been pledged to the much needed Tavistock Youth Café and which the organisers can call on when required.

A further £3,175 was also distributed to the schools, charities and other groups that took part in the procession, making a grand total of £6,875.

We are delighted that we are able to make so many donations to all these well deserving local groups but it would not have been possible without the continuing and most generous support from the people of Tavistock and the surrounding area for which we thank you.

We look forward to seeing you all during carnival week next year when the procession theme will be Tavistock ? Past, Present and Future, so get your thinking caps on now!!

Somebody who is leaving the area has recently returned a carnival trophy cup to the club. It is engraved Tavistock Carnival Week ? Presented by Madame Da Costa and if there is anybody who can shed any light on the significance of this cup, we would be interested to hear from them. You can contact the club at the address shown below.
