AN Olympic-inspired relay has helped to raise more than £16,300 for the Brentor-based children's charity Chicks, which provides disadvantaged children from across the UK with a free respite break.
The Real Relay realised the incredible challenge of running the entire route of the Olympic Torch Relay across the UK.
Endurancelife, the Kingsbridge-based adventure company, set up the challenge and each runner signed up to run ten miles and pledge a minimum of £10 to Chicks.
The Real Relay runners overtook the Olympic torch relay in Dover, despite setting off ten days after it from Land's End.
The Real Relay reached the Olympic stadium in London five days ahead of the Olympic torch.
Chicks staff were delighted to welcome Andrew Barker and Kate Treleaven from Endurancelife to the Moorland Retreat at Brentor recently.
They were thanked by Chicks chief executive Elanor Hoskins for their amazing achievement and for the support that the Real Relay runners and Endurancelife have given Chicks.
