NORTH TAWTON singer Amy Paddon will be performing in the UK Unsigned grand finale at the Clapham Grand in London this Sunday — and needs support from readers of the Times. Singers from across Britain, who, like Amy, have already won UK Unsigned competitions through the year, will be vying against each other to wow the moguls of the music industry and win the chance to record their own single. Last December, 17-year-old Amy won the teen competition — and a place in the grand final — thanks to West Devon supporters who texted votes for her to the competition organisers. That won her seven days in a recording studio. 'It was only because so many people here supported me that I won,' Amy said. Now she is returning to London for an even tougher competition. To hear a sample of Amy's distinctive singing — which has been compared with Dusty Springfield's — visit http://www.ukunsigned.net">www.ukunsigned.net and click on her picture. And to cast a vote for Devon talent, text 'UKU amy' to 81066 between 5pm and 1am on Sunday. The text will cost 50p. The UK Unsigned competition is run by the registered charity SABA — Society for the Advancement of British Arts.
