STAFF and students at Tavistock College are aiming to help their partner school in Uganda raise money to build the library it desperately needs.
In order to raise funds they have created a Ndeeba Trust. A spokesman for the trust said: 'We need approximately £19,000 to build the library.'
The college has already raised £750 through a very successful Mufti Day and cake sale held earlier this year by Year 10 students. The Ugandan school has already arranged for the bricks to be made.
The next fund-raising event will be an obstracle fun run to be held on the college playing fields on June 18 from 3.30pm to 5pm. There will be staff and pupil teams — any age and mixed or single gender.
An entrance fee per team will be charged in order to raise money — and there will be a trophy for the winning and losing team.
Refreshments will be available and if any parents or students would like to volunteer to run this stall they should contact Kate Camara at the college on 618778.
Entry forms are available from the geography department. — contract Tori Pearson, Joan Newland or Paul Maddaford. Late buses will run to allow students to stay on at the college at the end of the day.
