A WELSUMMER hen has been reunited with its owner, thanks to a report of its disappearance in the Times. The rare breed hen, which is approximately 15 inches high and different shades of brown, had gone missing, believed stolen, from the allotments near Fitzford Cottages in Tavistock. Following the report, Tavistock police received a call from someone who lived near the allotments to say the hen had turned up in their garden. PC Cockayne said they had read it in the paper so they knew the reference number to quote. The owner was delighted to get the bird back.
