Exeter Rangers 4
Tavistock Ladies 2
TAVISTOCK played their best and should have won. The back four of Sarah Blowey, Aileen Ismail, Candy Capeling and Emily Cox were strong.
Janie Sivyer and Julie McGowan ruled the midfield using wingers Lisa Curtis and Kirsty Jones. The ball was kept in Tavistock's possession and chances were made.
A corner kick was held up by Curtis then a pass back saw another cross come in to land at the feet of Evans whose stabbing shot went just wide of the post. Sivyer also came close with a superb long volley that tipped the bar.
A fluke breakaway goal saw Tavistock trailing 1-0 at half-time.
A long ball forward set Evans up for a run and a shot to get the equaliser. Exeter struck back quickly and went into the lead.
Tavistock gave everything and won a number of corners — with Blowey and Capeling pushing up they were dominating play. Again, against the run of play Exeter went further into the lead but after a fine run from Jones and a flick on Evans slotted into the net.
Curtis had a shot that looked to go over the line but a defender headed out and the goal was not given.
Player of the match: Emily Cox, aged 14.
