THE Tavistock group of the Ramblers' Association has just published its summer walks programme, coinciding with a new nationwide initiative. A promotion to raise awareness of the benefits of walking has been launched by the association. The 'Get Walking' project aims to encourage people to attain the department of health's recommended level of physical activity for mental, physical and social benefits. As part of the initiative there are free brochures, including a DIY guide to help people build regular walking into their lives. The summer walks programme features walks every Sunday and on many Saturdays and weekday evenings throughout the coming months. The programmes are free to download on the Tavistock group's new website, http://www.tavistock">www.tavistock ramblers.org.uk l A group of Tavistock Ramblers was pictured in last week's Times, alongside a story of the protest over access at Vixen Tor. We have been asked to point out that those shown in the picture were not associated with the protest and took no part in it.
