A SPLENDID night of music is in store for audiences in the Tavistock area, when the Plymouth Area Police Choir takes to the stage at The Wharf this month. The choir, which has a membership of 56 serving and retired police officers, traffic wardens and support staff from Devon and Cornwall Constabulary and the MOD police, plus a few invited singers, will be performing to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. A spokesman for the choir said: 'Their last visit to The Wharf was a sell-out and singing this time with a completely different repertoire, which will include some new numbers learned for their annual concert, tickets are again likely to be in demand.' The choir is so popular that it had to hold two Christmas concerts within a week in December, almost filling the 650-seat Central Methodist Hall in Plymouth on each occasion. Spring and early summer is a busy time for the choir — in addition to the concert at The Wharf, it is due to stage concerts at Newton Abbot on May 23, Plymouth Guildhall on June 6 and is visiting Brittany on June 21. Plymouth Area Police Choir performs at The Wharf on May 9. Tickets are available from the box office on 01822 611166.
