IT WAS with sadness I read in the Times that Tavistock Gardening Club would not be allowed to put its show on this year.

I have the paper sent to me up in Scotland every week and it astounds me that no one seems to have written in to the newspaper except Mrs Reynolds last week.

I feel very sorry for all the hard work that goes in to these flower shows. My husband, Ron Bailey, would certainly not have taken this lying down.

All the mayors and council officers who have been there to open the show with all their finery on have said what a lovely show it was and long my it continue. Where are these so called friends of Tavistock now?

I do hope more people will raise a shout in future and long may Tavistock Garden Show continue.
