FIFTY-four teams took part in a better ball stableford at Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday.

The recent rain had softened up the course a little to provide easier scoring conditions which were taken advantage of by Ian Wilson and John Haley who came in with an exceptional 50 points to win division 2 by six clear points.

An exceptionally tight division 1 was won by Jon Mansell and Martin Cox with 44 points, beating Malcolm and Steven Hill on the back 9.

Results - Division 1: 1, J Mansell and M Cox, 44 points (last 9); 2, M and S Hill, 44 points; 3, R Murrin and A Hawking, 43 points (last 6).

Division 2: I, I Wilson and J Haley, 50 points; 2, T Steer and P Grimley, 44 points; 3, N Penfold and J Flavin 43 points (last 6).

Ladies? section - the Sheelagh Creasey team had a very good win on Monday week, beating Elfordleigh 6-1.

This was just what the team needed after only getting two halves away, and so evens the score.

Wednesday?s ?Tunisian salver? had to be abandoned due to bad weather and was due to be played on Wednesday June 30.

On Friday the league team went to Libbaton and lost 6-0 to a very good Libbaton team.
