A SUPERB hamper, a cash prize and a year?s supply of chocolate were presented to the lucky winners of a special raffle held in Tavistock recently, which raised funds for the Make a Difference group. Make a Difference runs a fortnightly café in Tavistock Parish Church Centre, providing a welcoming, relaxing and affordable meeting place for people suffering or recovering from mental health problems. The group started in April last year and now around 20 people regularly enjoy helping out, meeting for a drink or providing home-baked goods to be sold at the café. The group has now applied for charity status and ultimately would like to rent their own premises, so they can provide the café on a more regular basis. The raffle was drawn at the group?s Christmas lunch ? last week, Ravi Jhangiani of Tavistock?s refurbished post office and Spar outlet presented a year?s supply of Cadbury?s chocolate to Mr and Mrs McFadden, some of which they will donate to various charities. Mr Jhangiani also presented a cash prize of £103.05, a food hamper and a cuddly polar bear.
