THE Woodland rider downhill race bike series took place near Gulworthy earlier this month.

This popular mountain biking event drew riders from all over the region.

Race organiser Rob Orchard said a 'huge thank you' to the people that made this event possible — especially Chaz Lambley and Nick Clever.

The race series has been a huge success with entries from as young as nine to riders well into their 50s and from all destinations including France and Manchester.

Rob said: 'This event has been a four stage race at our woodlands site near Chipshop, just outside Tavistock. I have now booked a three stage race to be held at our Gawton site starting July 11.

'I hope by organising these events it will create further interest in mountain biking in and throughout the South West area.'

Rob also thanked the event's product sponsors, Silverfish UK, Juice Lubes, Monster Energy and Buff who provided goods to present to the podium winners, making it one of the largest prize funds in a regional event.

He also thanked Don Howe of Kustom Bikes of Minehead, and Tavistock's Cornwall Farmers.
