A NEW grants policy and application form has been devised and given the thumbs up by Tavistock councillors. Members of the finance committee were shown the eight-page form and were pleased with what they saw. The new form was created following a meeting in March when councillors were due to consider grant requests from four organisations – Tavistock Ladies' Friendship Group, Tavistock Access Group, Tavistock Community Transport Association and Riverside Creative Projects. But the requests sparked the introduction of a new application policy, as councillors felt more information should be provided to help them make a better and informed decision. Councillors felt the form would provide them with better knowledge of the organisations and it was decided to create the form to help access requests for grant funding. And last Tuesday the council's town clerk, Roger Howard, presented the councillors with the new form of 15 questions. Cllr Philip Sanders said: 'Congratulations to the author – we accept the new form.' Many of the councillors agreed the proposed form albeit with a few minor changes. The four organisations which have already applied for a grant will be sent the new application form.
