BERE Alston?s new carnival queen is looking forward to her big day later this month. Vicki Todd, aged 11, was chosen in a special ceremony at the parish hall. She is pictured with attendants Amy Willcocks, 6, and Samantha Doidge, 9. The carnival parade takes place on Saturday April 30. As part of carnival week, a fun day will be held on Monday May 2, starting at 10am, on the recreation field. There will be stalls, a car boot sale, entertainment, refreshments and a beer tent. A mile of coins was recently organised in Bere Alston?s Fore Street by Barbara Pine on her piano accordian and Wendy Kingwell in aid of carnival funds.
