I HAVE been following with interest the developments at Morwellham Quay since it attracted World Heritage Site Status in 2006. My family and I are frequent visitors to the site and were very disappointed to learn that it had been taken into administration. If the long term future of the site can be secured I only hope the management team do two things:
Firstly, look at other success stories of similar attractions on similar sites, two of which are Blists Hill Victorian Town, Ironbridge and Sovereign Hill Gold Museum, Ballarat, Australia. Morwellham could be as successful, a real jewel of an attraction in West Devon.
Secondly, talk to the local residents about their hopes and ideas for the site, they should also be considered as stakeholders. The quay is not exclusively for tourists and repeat visits are often from local families.
