CROSSING the River Tavy from Bere Ferrers to Blaxton Quay by any possible means, was the challenge facing entrants in the arduous Norman Grills quay to quay challenge event recently.
Some gallantly swam, others took to canoes and boats, but all were sponsored in aid of the tennis court to be sited in the recreation field.
Irene Sheaf and helpers organised hot soup for chattering teeth, and rescue boats were manned by volunteers.
Christine Grills presented a trophy donated by her husband Norman, jointly to Alex Worrall and Mark Lawton.
She presented special laminated certificates to all swimmers, and thanked everyone for their support.
