PERMISSION to use land at Pitts Cleave Quarry in Tavistock to recycle sewage waste was refused by planners last Friday.
Dartmoor National Park Authority planning committee turned down the application because of the site's location — including being within a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The proposal would have 'a detrimental effect of the character and appearance' of that part of the National Park.
At the same meeting, permission was granted for change of use of land adjacent to Meavy School and the necessary works to create a school playing field.
