AS part of Mount House School's history curriculum, Year 6 visited 'Torrington 1646', the site of a major battle of the English Civil War.

The pupils learned about the battle and what it would have been like to live in Torrington at this time — including penal treatments such as a stint in the stocks!

The group also had the chance to try on 17th century costumes, learn about period weaponry as well as medical/surgical treatments of the time.

The day finished with a fun 'practice with pikes' session.
