IDEAS of what children from Horrabridge would like to see in Weir Park have been set before parish councillors. Two Horrabridge primary schoolchildren recently sent letters to Horrabridge Parish Council, with pictures of the types of play equipment they would like in the park. The council then wrote to the children, asking for a more in-depth description of their ideas. The council were surprised to receive 18 pictures from several more schoolchildren with their illustrations. Another letter had also been received by the council complaining about the condition of the existing play equipment ? particularly the ramp. It was agreed the equipment needed improving and councillors suggested funding offered by the badminton club could be put towards the costs. Since then the council has looked at various activities for the park and has come up with an adventure trail. Chairman John Taynton will soon take the plan to the schoolchildren for their approval. Although the cost of the project is an issue, Cllr Taynton hopes the development of Weir Park will involve everyone from the community. He said: ?I hope this will be a community project and get younger people involved and get some older children?s help in putting up the equipment.? The open spaces committee will look at the ramp with a view to making it safe, and make a recommendation for improvements to the play area.
