CHILDREN at Exbourne Primary School saw a great investment from a 'Grow a £1' challenge that their Parents' and Friends' Association set them.

The idea was for each child to be given £1 and to work on their own or in a team to create a business and raise as much profit from their £1.

Businesses were set up, selling home-made fudge, badges and purses, home-made dog biscuits and various other crafts that the children took time to create.

Sponsored walks and swims were also completed and car washes offered — the children put in a tremendous effort.

The result was £583 profit from the 33 children who took part. The money will go to the new playground equipment that the children, staff and PFA are working hard towards.

Organisers expressed thanks to The Burrow, who kindly sold some of the children's crafts on their behalf; Parklands for allowing the children to complete a sponsored swim there and to the Nazeing Charitable Trust who donated the winners' plates.
