THE Vikings came to Lady Modiford's School in Walkhampton on Friday — children in Sheepstor class (Year 5/6) spent the day dressed up in character following a term's work learning about the Vikings.

The youngsters made and decorated shields and designed runic writing name cards.

The day finished with parents coming to watch a class assembly where pupils shared stories, showed off longboats and sang Viking songs.
