THE academic year has been an excellent one for Mount House sixth form pupils. Of the 12 who have been awarded scholarships, four were placed either top or equal top in their category.

The fact that in many cases they were competing against an international field for scholarships to some of the best secondary schools in the country makes this achievement even more remarkable.

Mount House headmaster Jim Massey said: 'This year's scholars have really earned their places at the schools of their choice. They have worked hard to achieve these awards and, crucially, have shown an exceptional attitude throughout the year.'

The scholars and awards they have won are: Jamie Farrington, Wells Cathedral School, special major musician's scholarship (equal top); Alexander Ferguson, Sherborne, Alexander Ross Wallace scholarship (top academic); Meg Hughes-Chamberlain, Bryanston, music scholarship (equal top); Tom Jackman, Blundell's, all-rounder scholarship; India Lewis, Kelly College, music and academic scholarship; Oscar Mustard, Blundell's, all-rounder exhibition; James Perring, Blundell's, top academic scholarship; Lucy Redman, Sherborne Girls' School, art scholarship; Gemma Robbins, Blundell's, all-rounder scholarship;

Eliza Sale, Sherborne Girls' School, all-rounder scholarship; Zach Spiers, King's College Taunton, sports scholarship; Holly Wixon, Kelly College, top art scholarship: Kelly College.
