PUPILS at Meavy School ran from Meavy to John O? Groats during activity sessions last term, and hope to return by a more scenic route next term!

Since Christmas, all the children at the school have been taking part in daily physical activity ? Huff ?n Puff ? in a bid to increase general fitness levels and help them concentrate. A spokesman for the school said there was a great deal of research linking physical ability, increased oxygen supply to the brain with an increased ability to concentrate.

The staff at the school have been impressed with the experiment and intend to continue in the summer term.

The equivalent distance of Meavy to John O? Groats was run, pupils have played many small games, run relays and danced. The Year 5/6 class had swimming lessons at Meadowlands and as part of their distance swims on the final session managed 1,444 lengths ? the equivalent to swimming the English Channel.
